Sheikh Saqr Materials Lecture, a special annual lecture series supported by ICMS and the RAK-CAM grant. It was initiated in 2011. This lecture series carries an honorarium of 1000 USD. The local hospitality is provided by ICMS.
The first “Sheik Saqr Materials Lecture” was delivered by Prof. J.M.D. Coey, Trinity College, Ireland on October 20, 2011, in the Nevill Mott Hall of ICMS. The second Sheikh Saqr Materials Lecture was delivered by Prof. Claudia Felser, Director, Max Plank Institute, Dresden, Germany, on December 3, 2012. The Third Sheikh Saqr Materials Lecture was delivered by Nobel Laureate Professor Sir Andre Geim, FRS Kt Regius, Langworthy & Royal Society Research Professor School of Physics & Astronomy University of Manchester, UK on December 2, 2013. The fourth annual “Sheik Saqr Materials Lecture” was delivered by Professor John Pethica, FRS, The Royal Society, London, on March 26, 2014.
